Champor Champor - food for Champions!

Written by Sophie Evans on Tuesday, 7th March 2017 - Eating out

The other week I was meeting a friend for a bite to eat in London Bridge. Not knowing the area too well I went to my trusty advisor, Google, and came across Champor Champor. I wanted to avoid falling into the standard dinner chains and was keen to try somewhere new and this seemed to tick those boxes! It was like stepping out of London and into Asia. The walls were decorated with lots of funky artefacts and cool masks. I even got excited by the bamboo like statues in the toilet - (easily pleased)!

It took me a while to work out what to order on the menu but in the end I went for the Beef Rendang curry (a popular Malaysian dish- not that I've ever been but it came recommended). It was so good I'm salivating whilst reminiscing. My friend had the Monk Fish and loved it- if you're a fish lover then definitely give it a try! The service was great, they even gave us some complimentary snacks whilst we were perusing the menu.

For dessert I went for the chilli chocolate cheesecake, it was great but I felt I could have gone for something a little more unusual that wouldn't be on offer everywhere else. The Tom Yum Brulee looked delicious so I'd get that next time.

Champor Champor is located just behind Guys hospital, about a five-minute walk from the Shard. Make sure you book in advance if you are going to go, it was pretty busy but service was flawless.

Top tip: Make sure you try the stir fried halloumi cheese with chilli and spring onion, holy moly. I actually stopped my friend from talking when I tried it to tell her to! I died and went to Halloumi heaven!
