Mama Lan

Mama Lan- a hidden gem in Clapham!
This is a simple tiny Chinese restaurant serving authentic dumplings, noodles and street snacks is definitely a hidden gem in Clapham Common.
We (the CL team) went there last week for a Monday team lunch and we were all amazed by the quality and flavour of the dishes. The smells coming from the bowls of noodles at the table beside us were divine. Rich herbs and spices and a fragrant warmth.
The menu is split into 4 basic components: Noodles in Soup, Beijing Dumplings- a favourite, Street Food and Salads. Dishes range from £3.50 for Salad to £5.50 for Dumplings and £9.50 for a huge bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup. All meat is free range and ingredients come from local markets.
We didn't have to wait long before our delicacies arrived and they were well worth waiting for. The Dumplings were so soft and full of flavour. Of the fillings, my favourite was the Beef and Spring Onion. Melt in the mouth deliciousness, for REAL!
The only downside is that you cannot book a table in advance and it is very much first come first served so if there are no tables, just hang around and wait as they don't put your name on a list.
Delicious food and a great addition to the Pavement- Perfect place to go before heading to the Clapham Picturehouse.
