our process...
becoming a member

At Capital Living we see the importance of finding the right people for each house. We want you to feel at home and enjoy spending time with your housemates. We endeavour always make the right decision when it comes to who we invite to become a member. We have an initial interview process which allows us to get to know everyone interested in our rooms and then only view rooms we feel would be the best fit each individual. Find out more about our members and see if you would like to become one too!

1first contact

If you are interested in Capital Living fill out the enquiry form and someone from the New Membership Team will give you a call. In this phone call we discuss a little more about Capital Living and what it is we do and also get some basic information from you. We check that you are a young professional in full time employment and also remind you that the room is solely for you (we do not have any shared rooms or rooms for couples). We'll find out a little more about what you're looking for and book you in for an interview.

This is a stage that everyone who is interested in a Capital Living house has to go through. This consultation is held at our office in Clapham North, we'll get to know you, discuss your past sharing experience (if any) and what it is about Capital Living that you like/dislike. We find out more about you as a person and assess whether you would fit with our community. If you're not currently based in London we can do an interview over FaceTime or Skype.

If after the interview we are happy to proceed with the application we will book in viewings. Even if there is only one room you are interested in we’ll try to show you a couple of rooms so you can have a comparison. It is important for you to make the right decision and giving you a feel for what else is out there is always going to help with this.

4reserve a room

You've seen a couple of rooms, you've chosen one you like. The next step is to take it off the market. To do this you go to the room you want from the available rooms page and press the reserve a room button. You pay a reservation fee of £300 which goes towards your deposit. This takes the room off the market and provided you fill out the rest of your details and pay the monies owed within seven days the room is yours. To join Capital Living we have a £199 joining fee, six weeks rent as a deposit and then the first months rent upfront.

5check in

You've filled out all your information, paid all monies owed and your membership has been approved. Next step is to book your check in. This is where you'll meet your Member Services Executive and collect your keys.

6meet your housemates

You’re moving in but you're yet to meet any of your housemates. It feels kind of weird. When we book your check in you'll be included in an email introducing you to your housemates. This is a good time to reply to all and say hi! All houses have house Whatsapp groups so get involved in and arrange a meal or drinks with your housemates as soon as possible after you move in so you can get to know each other. It's also a good idea to find out how the house currently works in terms of a bin rota and anything they do as a house that's worth you knowing.

7capital living life

We like to think the fun doesn't stop once you've moved in. Those emails from us are going to keep coming as we remind you about our monthly member events. These are a great excuse to get out and about with your housemates and also for you to meet members in other houses. Whether you know lots of people in London or not, with 275+ members, a Capital Living social is something a little different and gives you the chance to expand your London network whilst making the most of everything this incredible city has to offer.
